After a long period in Vietnam, Sergeant Zeke Anderson goes back home. It’s two years since he has seen his child and he is afraid that she won’t recognize him anymore. His fears disappear after a strong embrace from the little girl, who has never forgotten her dad. His long absence has ended his marriage, and now his daughter is happy with the new companion of her mother. Zeke decides to leave, but he will always be there for his family. |
Even if he is at home, his thoughts are always with his men, who stayed in Vietnam. He tries to restart his life, and for a short time he is happy when he asks Major Jennifer Seymour to be his bride but his happiness lasts only for a little while. By chance he hears the frivolous words of a young guy leaving for Vietnam. Zeke approaches him, telling him what it means to die in Vietnam, and the guy is scared when he hears Anderson's description. |
Tortured by nightmares, Zeke decides to go back to Vietnam, Jennifer understands his anguish and lets him go. |

He tries to help young Bell, a 15 year old orphan boy, who risks being repatriated because of his age. Bell doesn’t want to leave, the Camp is the family that he has never had. Anderson will try to make him stay. The accidental death of the boy, grieves Anderson deeply, who tries to give him a medal. |
