John Mckay

Lieutenant John McKay is a very good chopper pilot.
John makes a beautiful speech at the funeral ceremony
of his journalist friend Alex Devlin.
The meeting with Nun Bernadette enriches his life.
A beautiful friendship is born between them.
John loves talking with her.
He admires this young French Sister,
who helps the children of the orphanage;
John does everything to support her charity.

During a rescue mission,
some soldiers are killed by friendly fire.
John feels responsible for the accident.
When Camp Barnett is
attacked by a sniper,
he decides to go on a solo mission
to find the sharpshooter.

He doesn’t shoot when he sees a young woman,
who is combing her long black hair;
he’s sure it can’t be her.

Later he’ll have to change his mind,
when in the trees he sees
the same woman, ready to kill.

John doesn’t have the courage to open fire;
but he is compelled to for self-defense.
After the shooting, there follows a dreadful silence;
the young girl’s comb drops onto the dead leaves.
John feels deep pain, when after an accident,
the doctor tells him
that he won’t be able
to fly the military choppers anymore.

Lieutenant McKay goes back home and he finds a job.
But taking to the skies to check the road traffic,
isn’t the same as flying.
He looks out of the window and his eyes
see again the daring flights in Vietnam;
when he was saving human beings.
Breathing a sigh of relief,
he decides to leave his job
to find again his real road somewhere.
